The Ghanaian Touring Car Championship.
1.Introduction
The Ghanian Touring Car Championship is a racing league whereas drivers race vehicles on a circuit in our nation of Ghana. The focus of this is for fun, monetary gain, tourism increment, and bringing a new infrastructure and investment opportunity to the nation. In this championship every person has an ability to be a star, giving individuals the opportunity to source their own sponsorship and equipment. Each race will feature a maximum of 20 Drivers to race laps within a 2-6km per lap distance with cars based on GTCC rules. Due to the low cost of entrance, the goal is to make the 1.8L class of vehicles the most inviting to be an all-inclusive race to encourage many drivers to participate from all walks of life.
2.Vehicle Classes
The championship consists of multiple classes of vehicles that are allowed to be used, beginning with the 1.8L naturally aspirated based engine size with vehicles being no newer than 1999. The second class is the 2.0L naturally aspirated class with cars being no newer than 2008. The third class is the forced induction 2.0L Class from 2008-2018. The fourth class is the 2.4L-2.7L 4-Cylinder naturally aspirated class from 2000-2010 year of vehicle make. The fifth class of vehicles is the Unlimited class featuring forced induction or naturally aspirated engines of any year but requiring the highest of safety and braking equipment. The sixth class is the 6 cylinder naturally aspirated open class up to the current year. Any other classes based upon demand can be added.
3. Drivers and Teams
Multiple members can be a part of a one car team as a race team with a maximum of 10 members allowed in the pit area on race day. Teams must register every member of their team before or upon race day to be allowed in the pit area where vehicles are in motion. All family/friend spectating must be done in designated areas as to not crowd the pit area for safety reasons. Each team can acquire their own sponsorship or fund the vehicle’s performance and setup themselves. Teams can own multiple vehicles for different classes of vehicles. Teams can have multiple drivers for each vehicle. A maximum of two cars can be owned per team for each class.
4.Vehicle Safety
All vehicles must have either a factory or race seat securely installed to the chassis with a working pretensioner seat belt or race seat belt assembly with locking buckles. Racing seat belts must have at least a 4-point mounting configuration. Seat belt mounting must have at least 3 points mount to the vehicle chassis. Vehicles classified for the Unlimited Class MUST have a bolted or welded-in rollcage. Unlimited class vehicles require a fire suppression system with external “power-off” capabilities. Vehicles in all other classes must have a hand accessible fire extinguisher or fire suppression system installed in the vehicle upon inspection. All drivers must have a racing helmet that securely fit each driver’s head. Helmets must not be shared. Fueling components must be securely mounted and covered. Fuel lines MUST run outside of the vehicle chassis and secured to the vehicle. Fuel lines must be secured by metal clamping components. Fueling components running near any exhaust require a shield made out of aluminum or steel. “Hans” type helmet devices are optional on all classes expect unlimited class and 2.0 Turbo class vehicles where they are required.

11. Race Events
Race events will consist of 20 vehicles at one time for each race. Qualifying will be conducted to decide starting placement of each vehicle before the race. 2 Practice Sessions will Commence for an hour each to allow drivers to familiarize the race course, make adjustments and prepare for Qualifying. Qualifying will take no more than one hour with a beginning stage of 30 minutes, and two 15-minute stages. After 30 minutes, 5 drivers will be eliminated from 15 to 20th position will be determined, then an additional 5, and then the remaining 10 will be determined at the last 15-minute stint. Races will be a total of 40 laps or 80kms. Depending on the number of drivers registered for each event, races will be split into groups and a final race to be conducted to determine the main event winner. If only an additional 5 or 10 drivers are registered out of the 20, additional drivers not meeting the top 20 places will be eliminated before the race determined by qualifying times. An intended twelve race events will be conducted throughout the year with a point system registered to each driver and teams. The highest earned point holder wins the drivers championship. Teams with multiple vehicles have the opportunity to win a Manufacturers championship separate from the driver’s championship.
12. Point System
1. First place is a reward of 36 points
2. Second Place is rewarded 28 points
3. Third place is rewarded 20 points
4. Fourth place is worth 18 points
5. Fifth place is worth 15 points
6. Sixth place is worth 12 points
7. Seventh place is worth 10 points
8. Eighth place is worth 7 points
9. Ninth place is worth 5 point
10. Tenth place is worth 3 point
11. Eleventh place is worth 1 point
All places higher than eleventh place will not receive a score.
13. Payment to drive
A minimum of 1500ghs MUST be paid for every vehicle that is on the grid before each race event. The price of every race event is subject to change.
1st place prize 5000ghs
2nd place prize 3000ghs
3rd place prize 1500ghs
4th place prize 700ghs
5th place prize 500ghs
6th place prize 350ghs
7th place prize 200ghs
Prize money price is subject to change. Prize money of lower placed drivers is also subject to change.
14. Vehicle Damage & Loss
GTCC holds no responsibility for loss of vehicle, loss of life, or medical bills whilst racing or collisions
Racing involves using a vehicle in which it wasn’t built for from the factory, due the close nature of racing, bumping and collisions are inevitable. Collisions from other drivers due to bumping, rubbing, or damage to any vehicle will be deemed alright, unless a racing incident is determined and a driver is found to be at fault from the vehicles involved. Forcing vehicles off track, brake checking, blocking after a maneuver is made is PROHIBITED and a penalty of a driving restriction to the team or driver will be issued. In the event of a collision or incident, a penalty will be issued to the driver or team responsible depending on the nature of the incident and whom is deemed responsible in a deduction of points, seconds, or positions or determined upon the gravity of the collision. GTCC will not pay for any damage to any vehicle during or after a race event. Teams are responsible for their own repairs following a race event.
15. Driver’s Meeting
All registered drivers MUST attend the drivers meeting. The drivers meeting is imperative to discuss the regulations of the event, driver discretions and various other discussions pertaining to the current event. Drivers that miss the driver’s meeting will not be allowed to drive. There are NO substitutions for drivers that are unable to make the drivers meeting. The drivers meeting will begin before practice and no longer than one hour.
